Swimming Consumes my LIFE...

Swim season kicks off the last week of October and the shade is quickly drawn over my eyes. Any life that I had before is gone, it belongs to my coach and the pool now. Lifting everyday for an hour, cardio for an hour every other day, and two hour practices every night. Homework, friends, and family don't matter anymore, all that matters is the water. It's a great feeling, some may call it crazy but for a swimmer it is the norm. My teammates become my family and the coaches become my parents, I spend more time with them then anyone else from October to February. I wouldn't have it another way. As the season is in full swing it seems that all I talk about is it ending but in reality the thought of it ending is devastating. Senior year swim season is over, for some that means the long 7 months of training until the college swim season starts, for others this is really the end. The end of a long swimming career. For me, 12 years of training has come to an end, 12 years of dedication is over. And... My life is back!! Haha though I will miss swimming and miss everything about it, I finally have time again. :) My family remembers what I look and sound like. My friends realize that I am still alive and I have not dropped off the face of the earth. Swimming is a sport that I can participate in the rest of my life so it is never really over. This sport has helped me make friends and learn the value of team, most importantly though it has taught me the value of hardwork and how the harder you work the greater results that come from it. So I think basically what I'm trying to say is I love this sport and the end has come, though it is hard I will never stop doing what I love.

  1. Isn't it weird to think that something you do for so long is now over? I remember the feeling with football back in the day.
